Website builders are the tools that allow the construction of websites without manual code editing. They fall into two categories: online proprietary tools provided by web hosting companies, typically intended for users to build their private site; and software that runs on a computer, creating pages offline and which can then publish these pages on any hosts.

The first website was created in 1990s. These sites were hand written in a HTML. Later software was written to help design web pages and by 1998 Dreamweaver has been established as the industry leaders; however, some have criticized the quality of the code produced by such software as being over blown and reliant on tables. As the industry moves towards W3C standards, Dreamweaver and others were criticized for not being compliant. Compliance has improved over time, but many professional still prefer to write optimized markup by hand.

Open source software for building websites took much longer to become established, mainly due to problems with browser compliance with standards. Open source tools were typically developed to the standards and made fewer exceptions for the then dominant Internet Explorers’ deviations from the standards. It is the management tools W3C started Amaya in 1996 to show case Web technologies in a fully featured Web client.

On line website builders typically require customers to sign up with the web hosting company. Some companies provide samples of what a fully functional website made with their website builders looks like. The range of services varies anywhere between creating basic personal web pages or social network content to making complete business or e-commerce websites, either template based or on the more flexible platforms, totally design free.

The main advantage of an online website builder is that it is quick and easy to use, and does not require any experience. Often a website can be built and be up and running living in the internet quickly. Technical support is usually provided, as are how to video and help files. This makes online website builders ideal for the beginner.

Sites are generally created using either HTML or Adobe Flash. A site that was created via HTML is the HCG diet plan site that has a really cool template. HTML is a standard format supported by all browsers. Flash has a growing popularity, but is proprietary and is not supported by all browsers and has the disadvantage of not being seen by web crawlers such as Google and Yahoo, and thus may not be indexed. In addition, it is more resource intensive. HTML tools are divided into those that allow editing of the source code and those who only have a WYSIWYG mode.

Off line website builders cater to professional web designers who need to create pages for more than one client or web host. Modern off line website builders are usually both WYSIWYG and allow direct editing of source code and cascading style sheets (CSS) styling. They generally require a least basic understanding of HTML and CSS code. They are more flexible than on line web builders, but may be expensive to buy. There are some open source web builders which may be downloaded free of charge.

Website usability is the application of usability in those domains where web browsing can be considered as a general paradigm or metaphor for constructing a GU. Website usability is an important concept in web design which is overlooked in the rush to launch a website or brand. If we put it in simple terms, we came to know that website usability involves building a site which is easy, fun and logical for users, so that the users can enjoy using the site and they can utilize it to find what they need. This consideration is critically important for companies that want to build brand loyalty and attract customers, as people are turned off by websites which they have trouble using.

Web site usability is an approach to make websites easy to use for an end user without any requirement that any specialized training be undertaken. The user should be able to intuitively relate the actions he needs to perform on the web page, with other interactions he sees in the general domain of life for example, press of a button leads to some action. There are many goals of website usability. The broad goal of usability can be:

Present the information to the user in a clear and concise way.

To give the correct choices to the users, in a very obvious way.

To remove any ambiguity regarding the consequences of an action for example, clicking on delete. Remove or purchase.

Put the most important thing in the right place on a web page or a web application.

Design aesthetics are also an important aspect of website usability. If a site is well designed, it is clear, easy to understand, and easy to view. If the design is too cultured, ornate or illogical users may struggle with it, especially if they have visual impairments. A growing number of websites are thinking about visual impairments and other disabilities in the design phrase so that sites will be accessible to everyone, not just people with young healthy eyes. Another characteristic of website usability is the functionality of the site. If the websites have bugs, broken links, pictures that do not load and other issues, people will have trouble using it. Nothing frustrates a user more than clicking on the link which leads nowhere, or trying to submit a form which will not go through. If a user does encounter a bug or problem, navigational tools which help the user report the bug and then report to what he or she was doing are critical, to make sure that users know that they are valued, and that site owners find bugs just as annoying as users do.

As more results of usability research are available, this leads to the development of methodologies for enhancing web usability. In the context of eCommerce websites, the meaning of web usability is narrowed down to efficiency: triggering sales and performing other transactions valuable to the business. Web usability received renewable attention as many early eCommerce websites starting failing in 2000.

Web design is the process of designing websites. It is the collection of online content including documents and applications that reside on a web server. Web design is relatively new profession compared to other forms of design, due to the youth of our medium. The word design means a lot of different things to different people. But nearly everyone you meet says that it is obvious what design is. They are often surprised to find that other people mean something different by design then they do. Web design is the process of designing websites.

It is a collection of online content including documents and applicants that reside on a web server. Web design is a flick industry. Just like every other form of artistic expression, web design has undergone a continuous and surprisingly fast evolution. Once a playground for enthusiasts, it has now become a mature rich medium with strong aesthetic and functional appeal. Just like every other form of artistic expression, web design has undergone a continuous and surprisingly fast evolution.

Once a playground for enthusiasts, it has now become a mature rich medium with strong aesthetic and functional appeal.

One of the elements of good web design is a lack of the elements that make a bad web design. The elements that make good website design are:

Text: the background of the website does not interrupt the test. Text should be big enough to read, but not too big. The chain of command of the information must be clear. Columns of the text should be narrower than in a book to make reading easier on the screen.

Navigation: navigation bars and buttons are easy to understand and use on the good website design.

Navigation buttons and bars provide the visitor with a clue as to where they are and what page of the website they are currently on. On a good website design the frames, if used, are not obtrusive. A large site has an index or site map.

Links: link colors coordinate with page colors on a good website design. Links are underlined so they are instantly clear to the visitor.

Graphics: on a good website design buttons are not big and dorky. Every graphic should have an alt label. Every graphic link has a matching text link. Graphics and backgrounds use safe colors on the good website design. Animated graphics turn off by themselves on a good website design.

Website is the representation of information in an appropriate manner; the information must be represented carefully by chosen media which is most appropriate for your content. Websites can be static or dynamic, that the content is the same each time someone visits the website or is taken from a database that is updated with new content. The content and its presentation is the most important part of a website. The content in the website can be presented in many forms, text and graphics are the most accessible and common forms of presentation. Websites are a way to earn money. People can make business by just building your own websites. People can build their own websites and can earn money. Making a website is an easy task for the one who is well known with the website designing software. There are basically two ways to make a website. The first way is to create the website offline and then upload them to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) via FTP. The second way is to create your website on line using a Telnet program by accessing your UNIX account, if you have one.

There are different steps for making a website. The steps are as follows:

Possibly the hardest step is learning how to make a website is deciding what it is you want to create, and the message you want to send from your place on the web. For inspiration, you can surf on the websites to see the gallery of web designs. You can browse through sites designed in your particular niche, whether it is a photography website, a business website, an artist or design portfolio, and more.

Keep things organized with a simple sketch of your site’s architecture. Most websites begin with a homepage that connects to a series of inner pages. Depending on your needs, you may want to have an about page, a product gallery and a contact page. Using a pencil or a piece of paper, map out what you want your site’s navigation to look like.

Choose a free website template. Wix gives you the freedom to create a website just the way you want. You can build from scratch or use a free web template to get started with a solid foundation for your site and customize as you go. Take your time browsing the temporary category of your choice located inside the Create section. Everything inside the Wix template is fully customizable from the colors to the Flash effects.

Now the fun part. With Wix, editing is easy with a simple drag and drop process. Add galleries, menu buttons, music, video files, widgets and more without entering the line of core. To change anything in template, click on it. To add something new, use the toolbox located on the left of the editor. Drag and drop whatever you want or like onto your website.

Now connect your domain. Wix offers you a variety of premium packages to connect your own domain and discover how to make a website with advanced features.

Usability testing is technique that is used to evaluate a product by testing it on users. This can be seen as an irreplaceable usability practice, since it gives direct input on how real users use the system. This is in contrast with usability inspection methods where experts use different methods to evaluate the user interface without involving users. Usability testing focuses on measuring a human made product’s capacity to meet its intended purpose. Examples of products that commonly benefit from usability testing are foods, consumer products, websites or web applications, computer interfaces, documents and devices.

Website usability testing is an essential element of quality assurance. It is a true test of how people actually use a website. It is easy when you know how to test a website. It is extremely cheap when you do it by yourself. The person who is guiding the user during the usability test and taking notes is called a facilitator. Someone else observing the test, often in a separate room is called an observer. Everyone that is involved in developing the website, including the strategy group, designers, programmers, stakeholders etc. are called website development team. The extent to which the intended user can meet his or her goals using the system being tested is called usability.

Testing little or often is far more valuable and cost effective than doing on whopping big usability test of an entire site when it is almost finished. There is always a suitable time for website usability testing. Suitable times for testing the website usability are as follows:

At the website’s conception

Before planning a redevelopment

Repeatedly during development or redevelopment, as critical pages or sections are prepared

When traffic analysis shows on anomaly

When the owner requires hard information about a page or site

With all the tests you want to discover whether the user: gets the point of the page, understands the navigation system, can guess where to find things. In a general you want to know: how do users interact with the website you are testing, what is difficult for people to do, where do they get lost, what makes sense to them, what makes them feel distrustful or insecure, what do they like and what do they hate. In a specific test you might want to know: can a user accomplish a key task, and can the user find something specific.

The website usability test ranges from 5 minutes to 1 hour. While website usability tests, one should note that the users should be outsiders. Find the users that are not involved with the website in any way. They should be completely new to the website and somewhat familiar with the website. Ideally run the test in the user’s home or work place. The benefits of doing this are: the users feel more relaxed, the user does not need to know new systems, and you get to see how the website works on different computers, browsers and modems.
